Highlights Graduation show of the Antwerp Fashion Academy

In addition to the fashion weeks it’s time for the graduation shows. Considered as one of the most important fashion academies, the Antwerp fashion department receives global attention. Famous alumni like the Antwerp Six with Director Walter Van Beirendonck, Demna Gvasalia, A.F. Vandevorst and Haider Ackermann need no introduction. The new graduated designers, on the other hand, would like to introduce you their collection. Some highlights from #show2017.
Rushemy Botter - Fish or Fight
This year, with "Fish or Fight" Botter brought the cultural clash between the Caribbean style and Europe on the catwalk. Despite the clash as set-up, the result was a coherent mix of streetwear looks with funny details.
Lukáš Spilka – Mars
Space outfits have made room for clothes with a higher fashion level. At least, that’s what the Czech Lukáš Spilka thought of realizing his collection for three imaginary superheroes who headed for the red planet with the motorcycle. No machine-made sci-fi silhouettes, but ready-to-wear silhouettes in which he had taken the time to experiment with different ropes and safety pins.
Jo Woojic – Bean’s tailoring
There was also room for humour on the catwalk thanks to the Korean student Jo Woojic. He brought an ode to his television hero Mr. Bean. Fortunately, no weird models, but finely-crafted suits.
Sanan Gasanov – Grand_Ma – Grandma
The expectations of Sanan Gasanov's graduation collection were high. Last year, the Russian won three prizes with his third-year collection. In his 'Grand_Master' show he brought an ode to his artistic 'Grandma'. He did not create prints because he wanted to show an all-round collection.
