Leitmotiv S/S17 ‘Arizona Dream’: zest for life – Italian style

The Leitmotiv label makes no secret of its Italian roots: they are instantly recognisable. It could perhaps be described as a modern, updated version of Moschino, or an Italian-centric yet more subtle Dolce & Gabbana, but that wouldn’t even come close to doing justice to the joie de vivre embodied by Leitmotiv’s collections.

At the moment, the label seems to be having extremely high levels of fun mixing pop-culture references. The Italian brand, which is based in Bologna and led by Fabio Sasso und Juan Caro, delivers clothing for women and men who love life unapologetically. Bright materials, funny motifs and sparkling sequins, sometimes even all in the same outfit: Leitmotiv successfully walks this tightrope without slipping once. And at Leitmotiv even men are invited to get in on the act: trousers with countless, thick tassels along the legs, oversized squirrels or deer on woollen scarves, turquoise coloured wolpertingers on bright yellow knitwear, along with camouflage patterns in signal colours – the possibilities are endless.

The collection for Spring/Summer 2017 is titled ‘Arizona Dream’ and its central feature are all-over prints in all shapes and colours. Lush flowery meadows meet neon signs, shimmering satin materials in the shape of poodle skirts or hot pants collide with Carmen blouses featuring flounces. There’s only one rule: don’t be stingy.
