Los Angeles - At the California Market Center, vendors gathered from across the nation for the L.A. Textile Show. The Los Angeles international textile show introduced Fall/Winter 2016/2017 trends for the three-day trade event.
L.A. Textile Show showcases premium textile, design, and production resources
In comparison to their spring show, the fall/winter textile show brought in a slighter smaller crowd than before. “In the spring it was much busier with [a couple] of bigger names,” said Nathanael Rotsko, sales director of Running Stitch. Exhibiting his embellishment and print design studio, Rotsko said his experience was a bit different in comparison to the textile shows in New York, Paris, and London. For a print and design studio, it was harder to find his target market. “Since it was a fabric show for so long, people don’t really understand what a print studio is or can do--they come here to buy pre-made fabrics,” said Rotsko. In comparing to other shows, Rotsko also stated that the market here is growing as Los Angeles buyers are more geared towards start-up companies. Overall, the goal for their participation in the event was to start to grow their Los Angeles clientele. “It’s a learning experience,” said Rotsko.
The show did provide a platform for people to intermingle from the New York to Los Angeles market. New York consultant Jerome Lamaar held a booth for trend and color service Promostyl. “We really wanted to expand more in the West, so this is the perfect show for that,” said Lamaar. As a first timer to the event, he felt that the show was perfect for referencing print, color, and textures. “It’s been really good for networking and meeting both new and old vendors,” said Lamaar. What has stood out the most in this event is the show’s use of rare innovative advancements. “There’s a lot of interesting technology that’s being showed here that’s just not at other trade shows,” said Lamaar. Promostyl hopes that with the L.A. Textile Show, the company can plan to expand their customer base in the West Coast.
East Coast exhibitors network with West Coast suppliers and vendors
The L.A. Textile Show is a three-day event where exhibitors can gather to share their ideas, textiles, and print services. Involving textiles, fabrics, and trends in fashion; the event is meant to help broaden networks. Overall, the trade show seemed to bring together design and production resources from the East Coast to interact with customers, buyers, and vendors in the greater Los Angeles area.
