Fashion start-up Cala has already started moving forward with its business. The company recently has tapped the talents of costume designer Lyn Paolo for a collaboration.
Teaming together, Cala has already started presales for the capsule collection. The collection will include five pieces and will be sold exclusively through Cala’s platform, including the startup’s mobile app. The pieces consist of a top, outerwear jacket, coat, dress, and a skirt. The garments will start becoming available on Cala one at a time per week until the entire collection is available on May 11.
Paolo’s main recognition comes from working as a costume designer for the hit telivision show Scandal. In pairing with the tech start-up, Paolo is the first of many designers that are planned to come on for collaborations in the future. According to WWD, Cala will bring on “about a dozen more designers” in the coming months.
Currently, the start-up has been successful in getting its footing in this industry. The app uses 3D body scanning technology to create clothing with the ultimate fit. Customers upload a photo of themselves to the app, which then is used to build a 3D model. While this app is developing itself more, the capsule collection with Lyn Paolo serves as the platform’s fourth collaboration with a designer.
