And people thought Missoni for Target sold out fast? Lilly Pulitzer's collection for Target landed in stores yesterday, and between inventory in stores and online the collection is just a hair shy of completely selling out. Yes, it only took less than 24 hours. Clearly her preppy fan base was not sparing a minute getting their hands on this collection.

Women's Wear Daily and fashionista.com have already reported that inventory online is completely sold out, so whatever pieces are left are what's left in stock at the brick-and-mortar stores. For those who weren't lucky enough to be in Target yesterday too bad, so sad, because once the collection is gone it is gone for good. “Many of our stores had lines forming early Sunday morning,” a Target spokesman said. “Products has been selling quickly, with some stores selling out entirely in just a few minutes. We will not be replenishing product on target.com or in Target stores. The collection is a limited-edition and available only while supplies last.”

Worst comes to worst, there is always E-bay. Traffic on Target's website was so high that customers were complaining that Target's website crashed, although Target firmly denied the allegation saying that they were carefully monitoring the website all day to avoid any hiccups. It's hard to believe they wouldn't be prepared for the massive traffic they knew they would be getting.

They certainly learned their lesson after the Missoni for Target collaboration back in 2011 which caused the site to crash. One hiccup did happen, however. At 3 a.m. on Sunday morning Target's website was inaccessible for 15 minutes, but they said the reason behind was to put stock back in order. The scary part is that Target reported order a large sum of units for the collection because it reached across multiple merchandise categories, including home, and they already knew how high demand for all the products would be.

According to a Target spokeswoman, this was Target's "most talked about collaboration yet." It has been the buzz on social media, newspaper channels, and television for quite a few months now. As Target is looking to improve their stores and make a turnaround, Lilly Pulitzer has clearly done more than her part in aiding that effort.
