IMG Fashion, which organises New York, Berlin, Tokyo
and Australia fashion weeks, has added Istanbul Fashion Week to its portfolio.Istanbul Ready-to-Wear and Apparel Exporters’ Association has confirmed that from 2013 onwards IMG will be managing all of its fashion week related events, marking the first addition to IMG’s exclusive portfolio since 2007, with the aim to build upon Istanbul’s success and add a world-class runway and show element to the trade event.
Hikmet Tanrıverdi, IHKIB President said: “The Istanbul Fashion Week, which is Turkish fashion industry’s window to the world, is taking an important turn. In order to have a greater say in the global fashion industry, we felt the need for new expansions.
“The strategic cooperation agreement we have made with IMG, will hand them over the practical management of the business from 2013 onwards.”
IMG Fashion Global Production Director Jarrad Clark, added: “By using IMG's global resources, influence and expertise, we provide solutions which establish an invisible bond between fashion’s key elements and corporate brands.
We entered a strategic alliance with ITKIB to strengthen the position IFW has achieved - Istanbul is a world standard catwalk and has an unequalled platform, which will further reinforce its regional and international presence by adding a show element thereto.”
Although IMG will assume responsibility from 2013 onwards, the company has announced that it is set to offer a series of workshops for local designers and manufacturers on topics such as preparing a collection for the runway, show production, marketing, public relations and branding for October’s event.
